Some new words made their debut in the Merriam-Webster dictionary. Everybody, welcome hashtag, selfie and baby bump into book of words.

Merriam-Webster announced on Monday that 150 new words and definitions have been added to the collegiate dictionary, including “selfie,” “hashtag,” “baby bump,” “catfish,” and more.

In a press release, Merriam-Webster said the new words “reflect the growing influence technology is having on human endeavor, especially social networking.”

Just in case you were wondering, here’s the exact definitions of a few of the words

selfie: an image of oneself taken by oneself using a digital camera especially for posting on social networks

hashtag: a word or phrase preceded by the symbol # that classifies or categorizes the accompanying text [such as a tweet]

tweep: a person who uses the Twitter online message service to send and receive tweets

catfish: a person who uses the Twitter online message service to send and receive tweets
