NYPD continues it’s crackdown on gang activity within in the city.
Yesterday they landed its largest gang bust in NYC history, arresting over 100 gang affiliates in one shot.
The arrests and indictments stemmed from an investigation into the murder of Tayshana Murphy, an 18-year-old high school basketball star who was gunned down in 2011. Three years later, more than 100 members of three feuding gangs were arrested in Harlem for gun violence in the Manhattanville & Grant Housing projects.
NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton addressed the over 400 officers at the 33rd Precinct station house before the early-morning raid, saying this would be one of the biggest raids in the city’s history, report sources.
According to MailOnline, Dozens of the charged gang members will face first-degree conspiracy counts on which they’ll face a max of 25 years to life in prison.
Their arraignments are expected to begin today (6/5) in Manhattan Supreme Court.
